Warren Haynes performing “Old Friend” on Opie and Anthony

Warren Haynes performing “Old Friend” on Opie and Anthony

If yer a classic rock fan, you know Warren Haynes. He’s played with the Dead, The Allmans, Phil Lesh and Friends and several others.  He has also composed hit songs for Kid Rock, Garth Brooks and more. I’m a big O and A fan so it was great to tune in the other day and hear Warren not only talking about his expansive knowledge of Rock, but performing some songs acoustically as well.

A listener called in and requested the song featured above: “Old Friend.” It is beyond cool. Yer boy Greg Hughes tweeted the video of the performance today, and I had to throw it up on The Fukerton. Not sure how you can’t enjoy this.

The Chad Dukes RodKast in HD #2

The Chad Dukes RodKast in HD #2

What a great show tonight.  Segment one we had our interview with Big Boi from OutKast.  He was promoting his new album “Sir Luscious Left Foot the Son of Chico Dusty” which drops first quarter 2010.  He was beyond cool.  Very knowledgeable about music, very friendly and a lot of fun to talk too.  As a life long OutKast fan it was thrill to be able to pick the brain of one of the world’s best MC’s.  To follow Daddy Fat Sacks on twitter click HERE.

The rest of the show went great.  We talked MMA with Steve Cofield from Cagewriter Blog on Yahoo.com and exposed some huge gaps in the personal conduct of both Blue Shorts and Othello B.  More and more people are listening live on HD channel.  Keep it up and spread the word on the biggest show on HD Radio. For info on how to listen live click HERE.

To download the newest RodKast, feel free to click away: Segment 1 . Segment 2 , Segment 3, Segment 4.

Tell ‘em Big Boi did it…

Im very excited about this.  The next step is to have some purple drank with Jamal Anderson, Bubba Sparxxx and Antwan André Patton.  I think I have earned that.

Yet Another Unrequested Recommendation from The Fukerton

Yet Another Unrequested Recommendation from The Fukerton

Drab T Shirt from the radio put me on to this song by Matisyahu.  It’s called “One Day.”  It’s a little obvious and a little cliche but I will shit on the floor if it doesn’t make you happy.  I’m not the biggest fan of music but this is definitely worth a listen, especially if you hate yourself and everyone around you.

The full theme song to Sons of Anarchy

The full theme song to Sons of Anarchy

When “The Shield” went off the air, so did my interest in watching dramatic shows on TV. I’m not a “House” guy. I’m never going to be a man that chuckles at the quirky hijinks on “Bones.” That’s why is so miraculous that a show like Sons of Anarchy has come along. It fills the anti-hero quota Vic Mackey and the strike team left in my life.

Season one for the Sons was a thing of legend. When you burn a tattoo of a mans back with an arch welder, it’s tough to get more brutal than that. Somehow season two has managed to surpass it’s predecessor. One of the cooler things about the show is the opening sequence. It’s all American flags, shotguns, tattoos and motorcycles. The main theme for Sons is amazing.

I kept searching for a full length version but could only find the 30 second truncated song from the actual show opening. Last night in a drunken stupor I stumbled across it on youtube. I already paid my .99 cents on itunes for this diddy, and I suggest you do the same. Until then, here is a copy from youtube. It’s by Curtis Stigers & The Forest Rangers. It is everything you hoped it would be…

“How the hell can I make my teammates better…”

I wish I was more talented so I could make things like this. Thanks to Drab Vendrell for the heads up on this vid. We are late to the party. DJ Steve Porter FTW.

Another fine recommendation from The Fukerton: 10 Million Slaves by Otis Taylor

Another fine recommendation from The Fukerton: 10 Million Slaves by Otis Taylor

Public Enemies. The movie was too long and it seemed like just a remake of an earlier Michael Man film, but it had it’s moments. This song was featured prominently in the film, most notably when Melvin Purvis guns down Pretty Boy Floyd. After a quick google search, the song was identified and presented to you here on the finest blog named after ass eating that exists. Enjoy.

The Fukerton’s Exclusive Interview with Blues Traveler (naughty language alert!)

The Fukerton’s Exclusive Interview with Blues Traveler (naughty language alert!)

We here at the Fukerton got a chance to catch up with Chan Kinchla and John Popper of one of our favorite bands of all time: Blues Traveler. I will now make the awkward transition to first person to say that I have been a fan of this band since the early 90’s. From their self titled album to Straight on till Morning. From “Carolina Blues” to the “Mountains Win Again,” I love just about everything they have ever released. I saw them several times in the 90’s at Horde Festival and they always sounded immaculate. I was trepidatious about how they would sound after a decade and I’m stoked that I was not in any way disappointed. What a show.

This interview is vulgar and under the influence, but I can’t remember having more fun talking to a band. We cover everything from devious, perverted, sexual maneuvers to American Idol to firearms selection. John has some sound advice for any firearm owner, and he also could have had a ball licking if he would have asked for one. There is some horrible language in here, but it’s a pretty good. Thanks to Creepy Justin, Shaky Knee, KC Dukes and Gina Thompson from Blues Traveler for setting it up. You can check out more about the band you should already know more about by clicking HERE and you can follow them on Twitter by clicking HERE.

An excellent recommendation from The Fukerton: Joe Cocker “With a little help from my friends” live

An excellent recommendation from The Fukerton: Joe Cocker “With a little help from my friends” live

There is an entire generation of jerks that calls this “…that song from the Wonder Years.” While I liked that show fine, if you’re one of those jerks, head to the zoo and swan dive into the polar bear paddock. I am 30 years old and I love my generation. Good movies, good TV, good video games, good food. Music? Not so much. We missed out. We don’t have anything like this. Watch this goddamn production. This is what rock is all about. Long Hair, kick ass music, weird clothes and a singer that doesn’t bitch and whine about his ex-girlfriend. The 60’s and 70’s were the golden years for Rock and Roll and those days are gone for good. The music was not planned out line by line and beat by beat by record executives and sold more as ringtones than as albums. For me watching videos like this is an emotional dichotomy. I celebrate how good this song still is, but morn the loss of it’s peers. Enjoy.
