Thanks to Rudy for making The Fukerton aware of some pretty great news in regards to the RodKast.  It seems that our little HD radio show was as high as 15th on the comedy podcast list & 16th when the photo above was snapped.  Considering we get ZERO promotion anywhere other than the fine readers of the Fukerton, we think this is pretty damn special.  As many of you know, the show is a labor of love.  It’s done by a bunch of guys that have worked all day and just love radio so we hang out sans any paycheck afterwords and shoot the shit for 2 hours.  Sometimes we question whether anyone cares or whether it’s all for naught.  Things like this let us know that it’s totally worth it.

No bullshit, The RodKast can’t thank you guys enough.  Keep spreading the word and downloading out little show and who knows what the future may hold…

You are not going to find a more open & honest radio show than the one that happened this evening.   Guests bombing, perverts, bitterness between co-workers, on-air melees and more.  This is show is a barn burner from start to finish.  Just when you think it could not get more dramatic, it does.  I cannot recommend this episode of the RodKast enough.  It’s not polished or professional but it is fucking real and radio like this is the reason I got into the business in the first place.

As some of you guys know, I am bringing back the show I do with my pals on HD Radio today after a few months hiatus.  It was put in the mothballs to make room for the weekly filming of “Monday Night Mafia.”  Coupled with the advent of DC50 offering Lavar and I a television program, my time which was usually not an issue, found itself all used it up.   Now that our first “season” of Monday Night Mafia is in the books, it offers a good opportunity to resurrect what I thought was a pretty good & always improving old school radio talk show.  One that I think could be on any radio station in America if necessity ever forced the issue.

The RodKast was started as somewhat of a creative outlet for me and me mates, but in time it became something more. Not only did we pride ourselves in improving it week to week, but I personally took pride in some small way keeping talk radio alive at WJFK. Don’t get me wrong. Doing afternoon drive on 106.7 the Fan is not only an honor, but a dream come true. Some kids want to be firemen and baseball players. I wanted to do afternoon drive on WJFK. Working with the Lavar is tremendous. Not only is he easy to do radio with, but the job has opened up so many more opportunities that I never would have expected. It’s without a doubt a dream gig.

Which brings me back to the topic of The RodKast. My own little minute slice of the WJFK I listened to since I was a child. I’m old enough to remember Don and Mike leaving WAVA. I’m old enough to remember listening to the Greaseman at nights. WJFK has been a part of my life for far longer than I have worked there. I ran the board on New Years Eve, Christmas, Easter, My Birthday, weekends, and whenever the hell else they would let me at WJFK. I worked there for MONTHS without receiving one dime. Like everyone that wants to get into radio, slaving away was a prerequisite but at JFK, I didn’t mind. I have covered all these things and my feelings on them before so I’ll try not to bore you with minute details, but I felt the need to tell you that to tell you this.

Tonight on the RodKast, I’m going to cover some things that I haven’t before. About the projects I try and work on, the people I try and work with and some of the people I have worked with in the past. None of it is ground breaking shit, but be warned that the first hour of the show is going to me a giant swim in Lake Me, for the most part. I hope this is not being oversold. I’m not letting any skeletons of note come chattering out of the closet. There are just a few things I deal with everyday and get asked about all the time that will be discussed.

It will be a fun show, surrounded by the usual cast of characters. JL Bourne is joining us, the author of my favorite zombie book. We’re going to discuss Iron Man 2 and break balls and bullshit around. But it could get a little real in that first hour.  Just a heads up from Brad to his friendos…

I have been assured by Beau & Ryan that the technical difficulties have been worked out for this weeks episode of DNR.  The description provided for us here at the Fukerton is as follows: “…It’s about net neutrality in segment 1 and a woman throwing out all her husband’s toy robots is discussed in segment 2. ”

We recorded this RodKast last Thursday.  There was no “Chad Dukes RodKast in HD” because we had a walkthough for the new TV show.  If this segment is not a 10 out of 10, keep in mind we had done the radio show, then done the TV show, then come back to the radio station to do the RodKast.  We also had to edit a 45 minute portion out.  I didn’t want to post it at all, but Bartie reminded me we are out of town this Thursday so we figured something was better than nothing.  Hope you can derive some worth.  Thanks for listening.

Very strange series of events unfolded on Friday night at the radio station.  Our radio show ended, but Drab T Shirt hung around to screen calls for “Overtime” for some reason.  Everyday he acts like he is digging ditches and snaking toilets by working for our show, but look at him in this fucking video!  He’s like a kid in a candy store.  I haven’t seen him this happy in years.  Weird shit.
