Street Fighter 4 will finally come home.

In what has to be the weirdest video game release this blogger has laid eyes on, Street Fighter 4 looks like it will finally make it’s way into gamers homes early next year. Gamespot has the details on the release date of this whimsical fighter:

Between Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and a new Street Fighter-themed pinball table for Pinball FX, Capcom’s hallmark fighting franchise has been getting a lot of play in the news lately. But what fisticuffs-enthused gamers really want to hear about is when they’ll be able to start the pilot light on their hadoukens in Street Fighter IV.

Today, Capcom delivered that news, saying Street Fighter IV will launch for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on February 17. European gamers will be able to don their gis three days later on February 20. The game has been available in Japanese arcades since July, with a few cabinets popping up in various US coin-ops since August.

Street Fighter IV is both a departure from and a return to the series’ roots. The game eschews the franchise’s classic 2D fighting formula in favor of stylized 3D visuals, but the roster of characters includes the entire original cast of Capcom’s Street Fighter II, as well as a number of new additions. Capcom made no mention of the PC edition of the game, and had not responded to requests for comment as of press time.

Did you catch that part about how you can play it in Japan already but only in a few US cities?  There is no excuse for that.  I know asian dudes dominate at Street Fighter, and I know there are more arcades still in existence in Japan.  Why the hell wouldn’t you throw one of these in a bar next to the Golden Tee machine?  Every 30 year old in the bar would be crowded around this thing betting their asses off and drunk as hell.  It would be a fucking gold mine.  People love getting sloshed and playing bar video games like Big Buck Hunter and Target Toss Pro.  Why wouldn’t they want to play a game that brings back such fond memories like Street Fighter?  Missed opportunity by Capcom but at least we are going to be able to Tiger Uppercut our asses off in 2009.  See you there.

I don’t know if you have heard, but they aren’t officially releasing the cabinets in the US. No SF4 in English here at local Arcades or bars. Sucks

Bonefish. Your post is so stupid that you are making me reply to my own blog which is lame beyond belief. Let me quote the post above which you obviously didn’t read in your haste to try and scoop me, which is something you will never do.

They’re are already IN the US. Also, if you would have bothered to read the whole post instead of making it all about you, you would have seen that I was just saying it would have been a good idea to have the game in bars. Hence the “…missed opportunity for Capcom” line. How about a little more reading and a little less giving bad information next time, deal? Thanks for reading.

I’ve now figured why Asian’s are so much better than us at these games! They have months of exclusive ‘extra’ practice. Crappy Capsom.

They just realized that the best character in the game is Ken and him being an American pissed them off. Also they probably read the comments to this blog and thoughts all Americans were scary like Dukes, so its never coming to the bars. hehehehe

I hope you guys do a release party for this game. Pizzas cokes and street fighter. What more can a person ask for. This game is iconic and was ahead of it’s time when it came out.

I have a buddy who has one of the SFIV arcade boards from Japan.(Yes, he is Asian, and a SF machine) I think I can shed a little light as to why there are not more of the arcade machines in America. HE PAID $14,000 JUST FOR THE BOARD!!! Now, far be it from me to tell anyone how to spend their hard earned money, but that seems a bit outrageous.(Especially sense it will be coming out with more characters on the 360 version as well as the ability to place a disk in the drive and not have to recreate Frankenstein’s lab to play it on a television w/ PS3 controllers)

I have been corrected, the board came from Korea, not Japan
